The fireworks producer's site already puts the 2026 show at 11:59 pm on New Year's Eve. The concert isn't announced yet. On 28 October we asked 26 New Orleans hotels to sell us New Year's Eve alone: one room for two adults, in on 31 December and out on 1 January. Twenty did. The nearest is the Omni Royal Orleans, 5 minutes on foot from the riverfront park. Five would only sell a longer stay, and one we couldn't read.
Walk times below are routed on foot for a normal day, from each hotel's address to a point in the riverfront park at the foot of the Quarter, where the 2025 concert stood. They know nothing about New Year's Eve. Crowds and barricades will slow the walk back after midnight, and nothing we read says which streets will be open, so we can't tell you by how much. Availability changes daily. Fees are as our hotel pages state them, per night or per day.
Thirteen that sold it, 5 to 12 minutes from the park
Eight of the 20 are in the French Quarter, eleven in the CBD and Warehouse District and one in Marigny-Bywater. Thirteen are within 12 minutes of the park, and six of those charge a $30 fee.
Every room option on the Omni's screen printed "Includes $30 Per Night Destination Charge", though Omni's info pages name no resort or destination fee. The hotel is at 621 St. Louis Street, 360 meters from the park. Hotel de la Poste, 316 Chartres Street, is a minute farther (464 meters). Marriott's screen there read "Includes 30 USD Destination Fee", and our page gives it as $30 a day, covering daily city tours and a food-and-drink credit that the hotel gives as $15 in one place and $30 in another.
Our page says Hotel Monteleone, 214 Royal Street, charges no fee, which makes it the nearest of the 20 without one. It listed three room categories and is 9 minutes away (700 meters). IHG's rate details at the Astor Crowne Plaza, 739 Canal Street, show four tax lines and no fee, and the rate allows no more than three nights. It's 12 minutes from the park (917 meters).
The same $30 line came up on Marriott's screen at three hotels on Canal Street. The New Orleans Marriott, 555 Canal, is the nearest of them at 9 minutes (646 meters). The Sheraton New Orleans at 500 Canal is 10 (729 meters), and the JW Marriott New Orleans at 614 Canal is 11 (810 meters). Hilton's screen for the Hilton New Orleans Riverside, Two Poydras Street, said "32 rooms found", and its price included a mandatory charge of $30 a night, before taxes. That walk takes 12 minutes (918 meters).
Two charge $25 a night. IHG's rate details for Chateau LeMoyne, 301 Dauphine Street, list it as a destination fee with 17.5% tax on the fee, and the walk is 11 minutes (821 meters). Le Méridien New Orleans, 333 Poydras Street, is 12 minutes away (918 meters) and listed one room type. Its Marriott screen read "Includes 25 USD Destination Fee".
Three more CBD hotels are 11 minutes away. International House Hotel, 221 Camp Street (828 meters), listed four room categories, and our page gives its fee as $15 plus tax per night. The Eliza Jane, 315 Magazine Street (811 meters), left Hyatt for Marriott's Autograph Collection in March 2026. Marriott's screen listed two room types, each "Includes 35 USD Destination Fee". The Windsor Court, 300 Gravier Street (850 meters), listed seven. It publishes no fee, so we can't tell you it charges none.
Seven more, 14 to 25 minutes away
Marriott's screen at the Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans, 921 Canal Street, read "Includes 40 USD Destination Fee", the highest fee in this guide. It's 14 minutes from the park (1,080 meters). The Saint Hotel, 931 Canal Street, 15 minutes away (1,135 meters), sold both its room types on a rate called "NYE Celebration". Marriott's screen showed no destination fee line, and the only fee on our page is a $1 per room per night New Orleans Convention and Tourism Fee. The Renaissance New Orleans Arts Warehouse District Hotel, 700 Tchoupitoulas Street, showed "Includes 20 USD Destination Fee", an amount the hotel's own page doesn't state. It's 17 minutes away (1,284 meters).
So is the Hampton Inn New Orleans French Quarter Market Area, give or take a few meters (1,291), at 501 Elysian Fields Avenue in Marigny-Bywater. Hilton's screen said "9 rooms found. 6 are currently sold out." It showed no mandatory charge line, and a one-night booking carried the room charge plus taxes only.
Le Pavillon, 833 Poydras Street, 19 minutes away (1,441 meters), offered only prepaid, non-refundable rates on its two room types. Marriott's screen showed no destination fee line. The hotel charges a historic preservation fee and doesn't publish the amount. NOPSI Hotel, 317 Baronne Street, also 19 minutes away (1,408 meters), had rooms. Its $35 a night destination charge covers Wi-Fi, drink vouchers, the gym and the rooftop pool. The farthest that sold 31 December alone is The Higgins Hotel, 1000 Magazine Street, 25 minutes away (1,883 meters). Hilton's screen showed 10 rooms with 5 sold out and no mandatory charge line, and the hotel names no fee of its own.
The five that wouldn't sell it alone
Four sold New Year's Eve inside a stay of 30 December to 1 January, and one needed three nights. Every longer stay we tried ended on 1 January, so we don't know whether 31 December to 2 January would sell.
For 31 December alone, the page for Dauphine Orleans Hotel, 415 Dauphine Street, said "The property is unavailable for these dates." It listed rooms for 30 December to 1 January. The hotel is 9 minutes from the park (681 meters) and publishes no fee.
The Bourbon Orleans Hotel, 717 Orleans Street, was the one that needed three nights. Its page said "No Rooms Available" for 31 December alone and again for 30 December to 1 January. Of the New Year's stays we tried, only 29 December to 1 January showed rooms. We also tried 7 January alone, and it listed rooms, so the page wasn't down. It's 12 minutes away (866 meters), and the fee is $25 per room per night, plus tax, covering Wi-Fi and a one-time $20 Bourbon O Bar credit.
Hilton gave the same answer for 31 December alone at two hotels: "Sorry, we don't have any rooms available for those dates." For 30 December to 1 January, the Roosevelt New Orleans, 130 Roosevelt Way, showed "14 rooms found. 3 are currently sold out." It's 17 minutes away (1,246 meters). The Embassy Suites by Hilton New Orleans Convention Center, 315 Julia Street, 19 minutes away (1,391 meters), had 8 rooms with 2 sold out for the same two nights. Neither Hilton screen showed a mandatory charge line. The Roosevelt's own site names no fee, and the Embassy Suites' shows none.
Hyatt's screen answered "Hotel Not Available" for 31 December alone at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans, 601 Loyola Avenue, the farthest hotel in this guide at 26 minutes (1,916 meters). For 30 December to 1 January it listed "ROOMS (8) | SUITES (5)", and 7 January, tried as a check, listed rooms. Each list we saw carried a daily destination fee of $30, subject to change.
The one we couldn't read
We couldn't read 31 December at the Royal Sonesta New Orleans, 300 Bourbon Street, 9 minutes away (666 meters). Sonesta's site ignored the dates we sent and wouldn't open its calendar, and the room list never got past its loading placeholders. Our page has its fee at $25.00 a day, plus tax. We won't guess whether it sells the night alone. Search 31 December on its own site.
Midnight in 2025
On Wednesday 31 December 2025, the free New Orleans Eve concert was set for 9 pm to midnight at Woldenberg Park. French Quarter Festivals and New Orleans & Company put it on, and the Crescent City Countdown Club had fireworks planned over the river at midnight. WVUE reported on 1 January 2026 that a lighted fleur-de-lis was lowered from atop the Jax Brewery building, and that thousands gathered across the Quarter and downtown, with more on the West Bank. Nobody we found published a count. Organizers pointed viewers to the East Bank from Canal Street to Esplanade Avenue, and to the West Bank. We found no page that says where the shells are fired from.
Nothing is posted yet for the 2026 concert or the fleur-de-lis drop. The countdown club's site already headlines a show welcoming 2027. On neworleans.com, the New Orleans Eve details for 2026 are still to be announced, and French Quarter Festivals' holiday page still has the concert in Jackson Square, which looks like old copy now that last year's moved to the river.
The park is now Goldring Woldenberg Riverfront Park, 2.25 miles along the river from Spanish Plaza to Crescent Park, and Audubon's March release gave its opening date as 16 April 2026. Last year's coverage calls it Woldenberg Park. Its published hours are 6 am to 10 pm Sunday to Thursday, and 31 December 2026 is a Thursday. No New Year's Eve hours are posted.
This season the Sugar Bowl is a College Football Playoff semifinal on Friday 15 January 2027, 6:30 pm Central, and its parade is due to roll through the Quarter on 14 January. Last season the parade was set for 31 December 2025 and the game was played on 1 January 2026. Nothing on the Sugar Bowl pages we read falls on 31 December 2026.
Last year's street rules, and arriving by car
For 30 December 2025 to 2 January 2026, the Louisiana State Police set up a French Quarter Enhanced Security Zone from Canal Street to St. Ann Street, between Royal and Dauphine. Its notice barred vehicles from the zone except for emergencies. Bourbon Street hotel guests were to drive in by Royal or Dauphine with proof of reservation and ID. Backpack coolers and ice chests were banned, and bags larger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches were discouraged and subject to search. Refuse the search and you were turned away. Nobody has said yet whether the zone returns in 2026.
That rule covered the Royal Sonesta, at 300 Bourbon Street. The Bourbon Orleans, 717 Orleans Street, is in the 700 block between Royal and Dauphine, inside the zone too. Hotel Monteleone is on Royal (214), and Chateau LeMoyne (301) and Dauphine Orleans (415) are on Dauphine, the two streets guests were routed through. The notice says nothing about guests of the hotels on Royal and Dauphine themselves.
The latest city notice we could read is from 2024. It barred vehicles from Dauphine, Royal and Bourbon between Iberville and St. Ann. The ban ran 5 pm to 4 am, 30 December to 1 January. Over the same dates it barred parking on both sides of Canal Street, from Claiborne Avenue to Convention Center Boulevard, between 6 pm and 6 am, and Canal and Decatur could close as crowds warranted. Six hotels here sit on Canal: the Sheraton, the New Orleans Marriott, the JW Marriott, the Astor Crowne Plaza, the Ritz-Carlton and The Saint. The notice doesn't say how its parking rules applied to hotel valet lines.
WGNO reported on 29 December 2025 that Decatur Street would close to vehicles from 9 pm, Dumaine to Toulouse, until about 1 am, and that Bourbon Street would be pedestrian only from sunset to sunrise. Those come from the press because the city's own 2025 notice returned a 404 for us.
Most hotels here list only a valet rate. The ones with a self-park rate we could read are the Hilton Riverside at $50 a night, the Hampton Inn at $40 a day, Embassy Suites at $50 a day and the Higgins at $45 a day plus tax. Valet rates, and the hotels that publish none, are in our New Orleans hotel parking guide.
What to watch for in December
The mayor's office news page had no New Year's item when we looked on 28 October. The 2023 notice came out on 28 December and the 2024 notice on 31 December, so you may book before this year's rules are out.
When they post, look for the 5 pm to 4 am vehicle ban on Dauphine, Royal and Bourbon. Both of those notices carried it. Neither mentioned bags, and in 2025 the bag limits came with the state police zone. Check nola.gov and nopdnews.com from 28 December. The city's 2025 notice was posted on ready.nola.gov, so look there too.
