Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
JW Marriott New Orleans sits at 614 Canal Street, one street from the French Quarter, and its staff draw the most specific praise in guest accounts, with different guests singling out different employees across departments. Bathrooms and finishes are the recurring complaint. Guests describe them as dated for a hotel at this level, and maintenance problems surface now and then. No recent renovation could be confirmed, so expect the room guests describe. The beds do better, and the bedding gets noticed. The address works for adults on a Quarter weekend and for business travelers who care more about service than polish. Guests who came looking for value say the rate feels high for what they got, and valet is a large part of that. The only parking the hotel lists is valet at $55 a night, or $59 for an oversized vehicle, and anything taller than 6'4" won't clear the garage. The hotel's own pages publish no resort or destination fee, but Marriott's booking screen shows a $30 a night destination fee included in the rate. If you pull in before the 4pm check-in, the limited in/out valet covers up to eight hours for $29.
