Downtown Houston prices follow the George R. Brown's convention calendar. Houston First had downtown 45% full at a $188 average rate in December 2025, against 57% and $217 in January 2026 and almost 70% and $266 in February. August 2025 ran 52% and $192, and September 2026 came in at 60% and $219. December is the cheap window, and of the larger conventions on Houston First's events list, only SACSCOC, December 6 to 8, falls in it.
CERAWeek held downtown above 90% at its peak in March 2025, and we couldn't find its 2027 dates. The NCA All-Star National Championship and NAPE pushed major submarkets past 75% in February 2026. The marathon and half run Sunday, January 17, 2027, finishing across the street from the convention center. Both sold out, and about 40,000 participants are expected over the weekend. When we checked, three of the four Hilton-brand hotels here would sell the Saturday before the race only as part of a two-night stay. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo runs March 2 to 21, 2027 at Reliant Park (formerly NRG Park), 27 minutes south on the Red Line, so most of its pressure lands there. The Texans on December 20 and the Texas Bowl on December 31 play at Reliant Stadium, the same ride.
Only the Marquis lists self-parking, at $50 a day. The other nine are valet only, at $55 to $70 a night at the eight that publish a rate, and the convention center's own parking page lists a $42 daily maximum at the Avenida North Garage. Four of the ten booking screens for November 17 carried a nightly fee, and each one was already in the price shown. The Marquis and the Laura charge a $25 Destination Fee, the Four Seasons a $4.25 State Cost Recovery Fee plus tax, and Home2 Suites a $2.53 Texas Recovery Fee. The other six screens carried none. Houston's hotel tax is 17% (city 7, state 6, county and sports authority 4). Without a car, a METRO day pass is $3, and the 500 Downtown Direct bus serves both airports for $4.50.
December. Houston First had downtown 45% full at a $188 average rate in December 2025, against almost 70% and $266 in February 2026. January ran 57% and $217. Convention business sets downtown rates, so the average stayed at $188 or higher in every month we have figures for, and we found no weekday-versus-weekend table.
$55 to $95 a night before tax, at the nine hotels that publish a parking rate. The Marriott Marquis is the high end, with a $25 Destination Fee and $70 valet, or $50 self-parking. The Courtyard is the low end, with no fee on its screen and valet at $55 plus tax. The Four Seasons' price shown already includes its $4.25 State Cost Recovery Fee, with tax added at checkout, and we couldn't find its valet price. Hotel tax is 17% on the room.
Six of the ten: the Hilton Americas-Houston, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, Westin, Le Méridien and Courtyard. We read all ten screens for the night of November 17, 2026, and those six carried no fee line.
No. The Convention District station, beside the convention center and Daikin Park, serves the Green and Purple lines, and a METRO day pass is $3. From IAH the 500 Downtown Direct is $4.50 nonstop from Terminal E, and it has served Hobby since February 22, 2026, against taxis at about $58 from IAH and $31 from Hobby. Every hotel here is 4 to 13 minutes on foot from the George R. Brown.
The Hilton Americas-Houston and the Marriott Marquis, 4 minutes each on foot, and the Hilton also has a skywalk to the center. The Courtyard is the farthest, 13 minutes by the street route, which is how every walk on this page is timed.
By the day, yes. The convention center's own parking page lists the Avenida North Garage with a $42 daily maximum, under every published overnight valet rate here. The Marquis also lists self-parking at that garage, about 0.1 mile away.
