Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
The Four Seasons has 404 rooms and suites on 30 floors, 6 minutes on foot from the George R. Brown, though not on the skywalk. The spa has three treatment rooms plus a couple's suite, and the gym covers 2,500 square feet. Every reservation carries a State Cost Recovery Fee of $4.25 a night, plus applicable taxes. The booking screen bills it separately from the room rate, but each nightly price it shows reads "Includes Mandatory Fee", so the $4.25 is already in that price. The screen says the fee offsets the hotel's state franchise tax. Parking is valet only, and no page we could read gave its price. Call before you drive in and add the answer to the price shown. Restaurant guests at Toro Toro and Bayou & Bottle get free valet, per the hotel's press sheet, which covers dinner and not an overnight car. Reviews are warm about staff who fix problems when something goes wrong. Several also mention housekeeping lapses and tired-looking rooms, and one describes an upgrade that wasn't a suite. Look the room over when you arrive. Check-out is at noon, and children's amenities and babysitting are available.
