On Saturday, January 16, 2027, the night before the Chevron Houston Marathon, whose race entries sold out, Hyatt Place, Club Quarters and the Sam Houston would not sell a one-night stay, though all three sold Friday through Sunday. The other nine sold that Saturday alone, and Hyatt Place sold the next Saturday, January 23, on its own. We found no free weekday split for downtown, so these nights come from booking screens we read on October 28. Weeknights fill too: C. Baldwin had no rooms for Tuesday, November 17. The Lancaster's site names Jones Hall, the Alley Theatre, Broadway at the Hobby Center and Houston Grand Opera as neighbors. We didn't pull their calendars, so check the show date before you price a night.
The numbers for this district are Houston First's downtown figures, and conventions at the George R. Brown drive them. February ran almost 70 percent in 2026, and CERAWeek pushed downtown past 90 percent at its peak in March 2025. December is the slow month, 45 percent downtown in 2025 against 50 percent citywide, with January 2026 at 57 percent, though downtown rates stay high even then. RODEOHOUSTON runs March 2 to 21, 2027 at Reliant Park (formerly NRG Park). Houston First tied about 75 percent occupancy in its Medical Center submarket in 2024 to the rodeo, and saw gains downtown too.
Hilton folds C. Baldwin's $22.65 mandatory charge into the price it shows, so its screen rate can sit beside the others' as it stands, though the $72 valet is not in it. Houston's hotel tax is 17 percent, made up of 6 state, 7 city, 2 Harris County and 2 sports authority, and the Lancaster's screen read "Tax 17 Percent". Valet is $52 to $72 a night where a hotel quotes it by the night or overnight, and $45 to $62 a day at the other hotels that publish a rate. Moxy also lists $35 off-site parking. METRORail's Red Line runs down Main Street for $1.25 a ride or $3 for a day pass. From IAH, the 500 Downtown Direct bus is $4.50, against about $58 for a taxi.
December, going by Houston First's downtown figures: 45 percent occupancy in December 2025, against 50 percent citywide, and 57 percent downtown in January 2026. Conventions at the George R. Brown keep downtown rates high even then. The night to watch is Saturday, January 16, 2027, before the marathon, when Hyatt Place, Club Quarters and the Sam Houston wouldn't sell it as a single night.
Up to $94.65 a night before tax, at C. Baldwin: its $22.65 mandatory charge plus its $72 valet. That charge is the only nightly fee any screen showed here, so at the other hotels the car is what you add. Hotels that quote valet by the night or overnight charge $52 to $72, and the others that publish a rate list $45 to $62 a day. Moxy also lists off-site parking at $35 a day. The Lancaster publishes no valet rate.
Eleven of the twelve: the Lancaster, JW Marriott, Magnolia, Moxy, Hyatt Place, AC Hotel, Club Quarters, Aloft, Sam Houston, Hyatt Regency and Hotel ICON. None of their screens for November 17, 2026 had a fee line, and the Lancaster's and Club Quarters' itemized tax only.
No. The twelve hotels are 1 to 12 minutes' walk from Jones Plaza. METRORail's Red Line runs down Main Street at $1.25 a ride or $3 for a day pass. The 500 Downtown Direct bus is $4.50 from IAH or Hobby, against taxis at about $58 and $31. The Marriott pages for the JW, Magnolia, Moxy, AC and Aloft each say the hotel provides no shuttle service.
The Lancaster, 1 minute (102 meters) to Jones Plaza. The JW Marriott is 6 minutes, and the Magnolia, Moxy, Hyatt Place, AC Hotel and Club Quarters are 7. C. Baldwin is the farthest at 12. All walk times are routed on streets.
17 percent: 6 state, 7 city, 2 Harris County and 2 Harris County-Houston Sports Authority, per Houston First. The Lancaster's screen read "Tax 17 Percent", and Club Quarters split it into three tax lines. The Hyatt Regency quotes its valet plus tax, and the Marriott pages don't say whether tax applies to their standard valet rates.
