Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
The heated indoor pool is 75 feet long, with an oversized whirlpool, and the R24 lounge is up on the roof. By street the George R. Brown is 4 minutes away, and on a show day the skywalk gets you into the building without stepping outside. This is a big convention hotel and it behaves like one. Lines at check-in and at the valet come up for big-event weeks. Noise gets mixed reports from one room to the next, and some rooms read as dated. Reviews single out the staff and the concierge as helpful. Hilton's booking screen added nothing mandatory to the rate. A car costs $70 a night in valet, since on-site self-parking isn't available, and an oversized vehicle is $80 overnight, per Hilton's hotel-info page. A daytime valet visit is $50, and event valet is $30. The 24-hour fitness center has Peloton bikes. Pets aren't allowed at all.
