Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
Rooms at The Roosevelt are large and the bathrooms are not, and that gap is where a building from the 1890s shows through its Waldorf Astoria restoration. Guests describe bathrooms that feel small next to the room, with the toilet crowded against the shower in some. If a big modern bathroom is part of what you're paying for, book somewhere newer. The staff get singled out often, and the gilded lobby draws people in on its own, especially when it's dressed for the holidays. A minority of recent reviews mention lapses in attention to detail that shouldn't happen at this price. The location gets steady praise: you're a block off Canal Street, and guests walk to Bourbon Street and the Canal Street shops. Neither the hotel's own site nor its Hilton page publishes a resort or destination fee. Valet parking runs $57 plus tax a night for a standard car and $64 plus tax for an oversized one. The hotel lists no self-park option, and valet works only from the Roosevelt Way entrance, not the Baronne Street side, so set your GPS for Roosevelt Way.
