Our take

By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer

The rooftop pool at the Omni Royal Orleans is finished and the guest rooms are not. The pool closed in September 2025 and reopened in July 2026 after a rebuild, and guests who have used it this year like the result. The rooms below it are still in the queue. Omni is redoing them two floors at a time on a schedule that runs to about early 2027, so a booking now can put you in a room with worn carpet and a bathroom with almost no counter space. Guests staying this year describe exactly that. Crews work weekday daytimes, roughly 9am to 6pm, so the hours you expect to be in the room decide how much the work matters, and thin walls carry hallway and next-door noise the rest of the time. Room complaints tend to arrive alongside praise for the front desk, credited with making the stay work anyway. What guests say they are paying for is the corner of St. Louis and Royal, a couple of blocks from Jackson Square. Against that, Omni publishes no numbers. A browser read of its pages on 2026-09-19 found no resort or destination fee, and its parking page carries no price at all. Two floors at a time until early 2027 also means the odds of drawing a finished room get better the longer you put the trip off.

The hotel takes the corner of St. Louis and Royal Streets in the French Quarter, on the site of the 19th-century St. Louis Hotel. Jackson Square and St. Louis Cathedral are a few blocks toward the river, and Bourbon Street is about two blocks the other way. Guests consistently name that position as the best thing about staying here.

Omni Royal Orleans FAQ

Which floors at the Omni Royal Orleans are being renovated?

The hotel doesn't publish a floor-by-floor schedule. Crews are working through the guest rooms two floors at a time into about early 2027, so the live floors change as the work moves through the building. Call the front desk with your dates and ask which floors are being worked on, and whether your room sits next to one.

Is the rooftop pool at the Omni Royal Orleans open?

Yes. The pool and gym closed in September 2025, and the redone rooftop reopened in July 2026. Older write-ups that describe a closed pool, including some from spring 2026, predate the reopening.

Does the Omni Royal Orleans charge a resort or destination fee?

None is published. Omni's site refuses automated checks, so its pages were read in a browser on 2026-09-19, and no resort or destination figure appeared on any of them.

How much is parking at the Omni Royal Orleans?

The hotel doesn't say. It has a parking page that carries no price, and it lists no self-park rate either. Ask the front desk for the overnight rate with tax included before you drive into the Quarter.

Is there construction noise at night?

No. Guests report the drilling and banging on weekday daytimes, roughly 9am to 6pm. The night complaints are about the walls instead: hallway sound and conversation next door come through.

How far is the Omni Royal Orleans from Jackson Square and Bourbon Street?

A couple of blocks each way. The hotel sits at St. Louis and Royal, with Jackson Square and the Cathedral toward the river and Bourbon Street about two blocks inland.
