Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
Some standard rooms at The Eliza Jane face the building's interior and get little or no daylight, a direct result of turning a row of 19th-century Magazine Street warehouses, one of them the old home of The Daily Picayune, into a hotel. That complaint keeps appearing in reviews written after the March 2026 move from Hyatt to Marriott's Autograph Collection, so the new flag did not change the floor plan. If a window matters to you, ask what your room looks out onto before you settle in. The old buildings are also what guests praise most, especially the historic design. They describe the staff as warm and professional. The Press Room lobby bar gets regular mention too. Noise reports split: some guests call their room quiet, while others hear the neighbors or the bars outside, so light sleepers should weigh that. Canal Street, the edge of the French Quarter, is about three blocks away on foot. Billing is the other recurring gripe, mostly a daily charge people felt nobody explained at booking. That charge is a $35 destination amenity fee plus tax, every day of the stay. If you drive, the only parking the hotel publishes is valet at $60 a night plus tax ($65 for an oversized vehicle). With a car, valet and the amenity fee together add $95 a night before tax.

Does The Eliza Jane charge a resort fee?
Yes. It's called a destination amenity fee, $35 per day plus tax, and the hotel says it covers perks such as a food and beverage credit and streetcar passes. Guests say it wasn't always clear at booking, so count it in before you compare rates.
How much is parking at The Eliza Jane?
$60 a night plus tax for valet, or $65 plus tax for an oversized vehicle. Valet runs 24/7. The hotel doesn't publish any self-parking option.
Do all rooms at The Eliza Jane have windows?
Not in any useful sense. Guests repeatedly report standard rooms that face the building's interior with little or no natural light, a result of the converted-warehouse layout. If daylight matters, ask what your room looks out onto before you check in.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is 4:00 pm and check-out is 11:00 am.
Is The Eliza Jane pet friendly?
For dogs, yes. The limit is 40 lb and two pets per room, with a $150 cleaning fee per stay. Cats aren't allowed.
Can you walk to the French Quarter from The Eliza Jane?
Yes. The hotel is on Magazine Street in the CBD, about three blocks from Canal Street, which is the Quarter's edge.
