Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
Older write-ups promise free breakfast at the Dauphine Orleans. That ended, and May Baily's Sunrise Breakfast Buffet now costs extra. Guests say a free welcome drink at May Baily's Place, the hotel bar in a former 19th-century brothel, still comes with the room, and the saltwater courtyard pool is the amenity they mention most. The pool is unheated and open 10am to 9pm, so a January swim will be a cold one. Dauphine Street runs a block off Bourbon and is calmer, and guests keep saying they could walk everywhere and still sleep. Street-facing rooms are the exception and pick up noise at night, so a light sleeper should ask for the courtyard side or for the Hermann House across the street, which the hotel describes as more secluded. Rooms tend to run bigger than people expect for the Quarter, though the hotel warns that rooms of the same type vary in shape and size. Staff get steady praise. Upkeep is less steady: some guests find ceiling leak stains or a neglected patio while others report a spotless room, and recent reviews don't settle which you'll get. It works better for a first visit to the Quarter than for anyone who needs every room kept to one standard. Valet is $50 per car per night. The hotel's FAQ doesn't say whether tax sits on top, and it never mentions a resort fee.

Does the Dauphine Orleans Hotel charge a resort fee?
The hotel doesn't say. Its own site never mentions a resort or destination fee, so check the full total on the booking screen before you pay.
How much is parking at the Dauphine Orleans?
$50 per car per night for valet, which runs 24 hours on site. The hotel publishes no self-parking rate, and some guests look for a cheaper lot nearby instead.
Is breakfast included?
No. May Baily's Sunrise Breakfast Buffet costs extra and is served daily from 7:00 to 10:30am. Older reviews that mention free breakfast are out of date.
Is the Dauphine Orleans noisy?
It depends on the room. The street is calmer than Bourbon a block away, but street-facing rooms pick up noise at night. Ask for the courtyard side, or for the Hermann House across the street, which the hotel describes as its more secluded building.
What time is check-in?
The hotel doesn't publish it. Call the front desk at 504-586-1800 if you're arriving early or late.
Is the pool heated?
No. It's a 6-foot saltwater pool in a brick courtyard, open 10am to 9pm, and it isn't heated, so it's mostly a warm-month perk.
