The District taxes a room at 15.95%, and the screens that itemize a hotel fee tax it too: the Banneker's $30 becomes $34.79 and the LINE's $27 becomes $31.31. Lyle's $30 and the Royal Sonesta's $35 come from each hotel's own site, and we have not read either booking screen. Hilton's $25 and the Madera's $29 sit inside the rate shown, and the Churchill's per-night price counts its $26 in too. The Dupont Circle Hotel, the Ven and the Courtyard showed none, and the Tabard Inn's screen is unread. Put valet on the Banneker's taxed fee and you are $99.79 a night over the room rate, before any tax on the parking. At the Churchill the screen's price already holds the fee, so valet adds its $60 plus tax to that.
Dupont Circle Metro is the cheaper way to move, at $2.25 to $6.75 on weekdays, and Union Station is about 10 minutes away on the Red Line. Trains run until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Capital One Arena and Nationals Park are elsewhere, so game nights matter less here. Weekdays fill DC hotels. A CoStar headline from December 2024 credited weekday demand for the city's occupancy gains. An older travel story pinned weekend discounts on Congress and the courts being out of session, and one fare-watch post found a Thursday-to-Monday stay well under one starting on a Monday, but those two are old and anecdotal. No current source we found splits Dupont Circle's weeknights from its weekends, so the weekend is a better bet and no more.
The Society for Neuroscience convention runs November 14 to 18, 2026, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Lonely Planet calls January through March cheapest, with February the best bet. In 2027 TRB (the Transportation Research Board) meets January 10 to 14, and March for Life and the Auto Show's opening both fall on Friday, January 22, with the show running through the 31st. The Cherry Blossom Festival opens March 20, inside that window too, and runs to April 11. NPS says a bloom forecast is almost impossible more than 10 days ahead; 2026 peaked on March 26. The NFL Draft is April 29 to May 1. July 4 is a Sunday, with the National Independence Day Parade on Constitution Avenue. The aggregators split between August and December, and nothing we found ties August to the congressional recess.
January through March, with February the best bet, according to Lonely Planet's ranking. That is a travel-guide ranking and not Dupont Circle data, and we found no current day-of-week split for the area. The Auto Show (January 22 to 31, 2027) and March for Life (January 22) cut into January, and the Cherry Blossom Festival runs March 20 to April 11, 2027. We found nothing that ties August to the congressional recess.
Seven of the eleven state one. Hilton charges $25 and the Madera $29, both already inside the rate shown. The Churchill charges $26 ($30.15 with tax), and its screen counts the fee inside the per-night price. The LINE charges $27 ($31.31 with tax) and the Banneker $30 ($34.79), itemized on the booking screen. Lyle states $30 plus tax and the Royal Sonesta $35 plus taxes on their own sites; we have not read their screens. The Dupont Circle Hotel, the Ven and the Courtyard showed no fee. We have not read the Tabard Inn's booking screen.
$49 to $65 a night where the hotel lists a price, and ten of the eleven do. Courtyard's off-site valet is $49, the Madera's valet $55 plus the 18% DC parking tax, the Hilton's self-parking $58 (no valet), the Churchill and the Ven $60, the Lyle $64, and the Dupont Circle Hotel, the Banneker and the LINE $65. The Tabard Inn lists overnight parking at $49.99 plus tax and points to a nearby garage at $26 plus tax. The Royal Sonesta's page lists no parking.
15.95% of the room rate, and the booking screens we read for the Churchill, the Banneker and the LINE apply it to the hotel fee as well. The District's tax office states that rate for April 1, 2023 through March 30, 2027 and names none after that, while the DC Code puts the temporary 1% piece through September 30, 2027. We cannot say what an April 2027 stay will be taxed.
By Metro from Reagan National, which The Dupont Circle Hotel puts at about 20 minutes by metro or car. From BWI, the free airport shuttle runs to the BWI MARC/Amtrak station, and the train to Union Station takes about 30 minutes on Amtrak or 35 on MARC; from there the Red Line reaches Dupont Circle in about 10. Weekday fares run $2.25 to $6.75, and weekends and after 9:30 p.m. they run $2.25 to $2.50.
The Dupont Circle Hotel, 2 minutes on foot. Then the Ven at 5, Lyle and the Madera at 6, the Royal Sonesta at 7, the Tabard Inn and the Courtyard at 9, the Washington Hilton and the Banneker at 11, the Churchill at 12 and the LINE at 19. Walks are timed by the street route.
