Downtown rooms lean the same way, cheaper on Friday and Saturday, though the evidence is thin: a December 2024 CoStar headline credits weekday demand for the city's 2024 gains, and we found no current day-by-day split for the District. Weekends are not empty. The Capitals play 19 of their 42 home games at Capital One Arena in 2026-27, in neighboring Penn Quarter, on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
The National Christmas Tree is lit on the Ellipse, just south of the White House, on the evening of Thursday, December 3, 2026. Only winners of a free ticket lottery get in. On Saturday, March 20, 2027, the Rock 'n' Roll DC half marathon starts at Constitution and 14th at 8 AM, and roads around the start close from roughly 7 AM to 1 PM. The Cherry Blossom Festival's parade starts at 16th Street at 11 AM on Saturday, April 10, with grandstands between 16th and 17th near the Washington Monument. The Mayflower's Destination Fee is $30, Le Méridien's $36, the St. Regis's $40 and Hotel Washington's $42. The Capital Hilton calls its $30 a mandatory charge, and the Sofitel's $40 is an Urban Experience Fee. The Darcy's Amenity Fee is $30.18, or $34.99 with its tax. The Hamilton charges a $25 Facility Fee plus a 1% Community Impact Fee, with tax on both. The Jefferson's screen added nothing but tax. The Willard's amenity fee and Hotel Zena's guest amenities fee are both $35 on the hotels' own sites, and we have not read the Hay-Adams fee. Five of the eight fees read on a booking screen sit inside the price the chain lists. The District taxes a room 15.95%. Ten of the twelve publish a valet price, from $59 to $90. Where a booking screen showed the fee and the hotel prices valet, the two come to $99.99 at the Darcy up to $125 at the St. Regis.
Friday and Saturday nights lean cheaper, and February is the month Lonely Planet ranks cheapest. A December 2024 CoStar headline credits weekday demand for the city's 2024 gains, though we found no current day-by-day numbers. January carries TRB at the Convention Center on January 10 to 14, 2027 and the Auto Show on January 22 to 31. The Capitals play five home games from February 14 to 23, and the Cherry Blossom Festival starts March 20.

The District taxes a room 15.95%. The Hamilton also charges it on both its fees, and the Darcy's amenity fee has its tax inside it. Hotel Zena says its $35 is plus tax, and the Willard's page doesn't say. The Office of Tax and Revenue's notice sets the 15.95% rate for April 1, 2023 through March 30, 2027 and names no rate after that, so check a spring 2027 stay before you count on it.
