Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
Rooms and bathrooms at the St. Regis Washington, D.C. often come up as dated, and some stays do not feel like a flagship St. Regis for the money. The staff are the stronger half: attentive, and a birthday can earn an upgrade or a welcome gesture. The public rooms keep a classic, formal feel. On November 17, 2026, Marriott's booking screen showed a $40 Destination Fee as part of the rate, with the District's 15.95% room tax still to come. Valet at $85 a day is the only parking we found, and the hotel's Marriott page doesn't say whether tax applies to it. Arrive by car and the bill grows by $85 a night beyond what Marriott shows, $125 once the fee is counted. Pets up to 25 pounds are welcome for a non-refundable $250 a stay. The restaurant menu is short. Ask what breakfast your rate includes, because that has confused people here.
