The grand lobby and the suites are the Mayflower at its best. It opened in 1925 and calls itself DC's longest-operating hotel. Of its 581 rooms and suites, some of them show their age: aging air conditioning, worn furnishings. Many are still quiet and comfortable. Lines at the front desk can be slow. Dining is limited and restaurant service can drag. There have been billing errors at checkout, some of them reversed later. Rental bicycles and a 24-hour fitness center are on the hotel's amenities list, and pets are not allowed. Marriott's price already holds the $30 Destination Fee, per the November 17, 2026 booking screen. The District's 15.95% room tax is the line that comes after. Valet is $73 a day with tax included, so a night with a car runs $103 in fee and parking. The garage clears vehicles up to 6 feet and takes no RVs or oversize vehicles.
