Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
Le Méridien Washington, D.C., The Madison was renovated before it took the Le Méridien name. The work redid the guestrooms and the lobby and finished in September 2024. Lafayette Square is a 10-minute walk. Staff are friendly in most accounts and the rooms read as clean and stylish, with decent beds, though housekeeping slips now and then. In-room extras such as fridges are few and the breakfast is thin. Complaints come back to street noise and the final bill. One pet per room is allowed, up to 40 pounds. Valet is $71 a day on the hotel's Marriott page. With the $36 Destination Fee that makes $107 a night, but only the valet is new money: the November 17, 2026 booking screen already had the fee in the rate, and the District's 15.95% room tax goes on after. Some third-party listings still carry the old name, The Madison Washington DC, so search for either.
