Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
The Darcy takes pets under 75 pounds and charges no pet fee, the only downtown hotel on our list whose own pages say so. Guests like the staff and the location, a 12-minute walk from Lafayette Square. The bathrooms are small. The booking screen for November 18, 2026 (November 17 was not available) itemized an Amenity Fee of $30.18 and an Occupancy Tax Fee of $4.81, together $34.99, which matches the $35 inclusive of tax on the hotel's FAQ. It covers Wi-Fi, in-room coffee and tea, the 24-hour fitness center and complimentary rental of the hotel's bicycles. Overnight valet is $65 with in-and-out privileges, which makes a night with a car $99.99 in extras before the room's own 15.95% tax. A separate $25 parking rate for day events does not cover overnight. The minimum check-in age is 21. Some booking sites still list the hotel as a Curio Collection by Hilton; its own site shows no Hilton branding.
