Nationals baseball is off until Thursday, March 25, 2027, the earliest home opener in the team's history. Lonely Planet ranks January through March cheapest citywide, February first, so the cheap months and the off-season mostly overlap here. Momondo's data points to August instead. We found no Sunday-to-Thursday rate split for Navy Yard itself.
Nine days after Opening Day, Petalpalooza takes the riverfront on Saturday, April 3, 2027. It is part of the Cherry Blossom Festival (March 20 to April 11, its 100th anniversary), and the organizer expects 10,000 to 50,000 people, with fireworks around 8:30 PM. The Red Sox visit April 9 to 11 and the Dodgers April 23 to 25. A home stand runs July 2 to 11, with the Athletics over the Fourth. A lockout could cancel the March and April games. NPS posts no peak-bloom forecast this early. The Convention Center, outside this area, has the Society for Neuroscience from November 14 to 18 and the Washington, DC Auto Show from January 22 to 31, 2027.
Parking here costs more than either hotel fee we read. The Courtyard's limited self-parking is $55.46 a day, and valet runs $64 to $71 at the AC, the Residence Inn, Hampton and Homewood, with special event rates at Hampton. Of the six booking screens read, Thompson's carries a $32 daily destination fee and the AC's a $25 one, which Marriott counts inside its listed rate. Hampton, the Residence Inn, the Courtyard and Homewood showed none, and Cambria's is not read yet. The District's 15.95% room tax comes separately from any of those fees. The Green Line stops at Navy Yard-Ballpark, and an evening game ends around 10 PM, well before Metro closes.
January through March, going by Lonely Planet's citywide ranking, which puts February first. The Nationals do not play at home until March 25, 2027. We found no Navy Yard rate by day of the week, so we cannot say which night in the week is cheapest. Check the night you want.
Two of the six whose booking screens we read. Thompson shows a $32.00 daily destination fee, subject to change, on Hyatt's booking screen. The AC Hotel shows a $25 Destination Fee that Marriott includes inside the rate it lists. Hampton, the Residence Inn, the Courtyard and Homewood showed no fee line. Cambria's booking screen is not read yet: Choice Hotels showed rates but no fee breakdown before Add Room.
$55.46 a day for the Courtyard's limited self-parking. Valet is $64 a day at the AC and $65 a day at the Residence Inn, and Hilton lists $70 at Hampton and $71 at Homewood. Hampton's valet runs 6 AM to midnight and adds special event rates. Thompson and Cambria list valet but we found no rate. Only the Courtyard lists self-parking.
Cambria is 4 minutes on foot, Hampton 9, the Residence Inn and Homewood 10, Thompson 13, the Courtyard 15 and the AC 16. The walks are timed to the home plate gate on the South Capitol Street side, by the street route.
15.95% on the room rate, the same as everywhere in the District. That is DC's sales tax on hotel rooms, and it is separate from any hotel fee. The District's tax office states the 15.95% for April 1, 2023 through March 30, 2027 and gives no rate after that date, so check the screen if you are booking past March 2027.
No. The Navy Yard-Ballpark station is on the Green Line, and Hampton says it is one block from the Green Line. Rail fares run $2.25 to $6.75 on weekdays until 9:30 PM and $2.25 to $2.50 after that and on weekends. Metro runs until midnight Monday to Thursday and Sunday, and until 2 AM on Friday and Saturday. None of the seven hotels we read lists a shuttle.
