Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
Hyatt says the Thompson's rooftop bar has 360-degree views, and the hotel also has a restaurant called Surveyor and a second bar, the Thompson Bar Room. Some rooms face the water, and the Thompson Suite is 805 square feet with a private balcony. Dogs stay at no extra charge for stays under 30 nights. Hyatt's booking screen applies a $32 daily destination fee to each room and marks it subject to change. Three nights is $96 in fee, on top of the 15.95% the District charges on the room, and the screen does not say whether tax lands on the fee itself. The walk to Nationals Park is 13 minutes. On our October 29 check, Hyatt showed the hotel as not available for November 17 and 18. Hyatt lists valet at the entrance, one vehicle per room with in-and-out privileges, and no nightly rate appears on any Hyatt page we could read, so a car adds a cost we could not price.
