Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
Every morning the Residence Inn puts out a free full American breakfast, 6:30 to 9:00 AM on weekdays and 7:00 to 10:00 on weekends. It is 10 minutes on foot from Nationals Park at 1233 First St SE, a street it shares with the Hampton. Pets are allowed, up to 2 at 25 pounds each, and a non-refundable pet fee applies. Check-in is 4 PM and checkout 11 AM, and you must be 18 to check in. Marriott's booking screen for November 17 listed rates with no fee line, so without a car the bill is the room and the District's 15.95% tax. With one, valet is the only parking: $65 a day on the hotel's info page, limited and first come first served, and the hotel says offsite or street parking may be required. There are no EV charging stations. If you get a space at all, $195 covers three nights.
