Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
The rate Hilton lists for this big convention hotel already holds its $25 nightly mandatory charge, so don't add it a second time when you compare rates: the November 17 screen read "Price includes $25.00 USD mandatory charge per night, but excludes taxes and government charges." The District's 15.95% room tax lands on top. Reviews describe dated rooms and uneven bathroom upkeep. Pets are allowed for a $75 non-refundable fee, up to 75 pounds, and the room is yours from 4 PM on arrival until 11 AM on the day you leave. Dupont Circle is an 11-minute walk, 823 meters by the street route. There's no valet. Self-parking is $58 a night in a covered garage, and you can come and go as often as you like. Its 6 foot 2 inch height limit means a tall van or a roof box needs another plan, and parking cost is a recurring complaint here.
