Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
A 1940 Art Deco courtyard hotel two blocks off the sand, where the building's charm and its limits are the same thing. Reviewers reliably praise three things: the Collins Park location, which rates above the hotel's overall score, the staff, and the courtyard pool tucked behind palms and cabanas. The complaints are just as consistent. Classic rooms run small, some face neighboring walls and stay dark, and street-facing rooms catch late-night noise. The pool that photographs like an oasis sits in shade much of the day, ringed by a four-story building, and loungers are regularly gone by midday. The non-obvious tradeoff is that your room category decides which Plymouth you get. Juliette Pool View, Classic Terrace and the suites buy the light and space the Classic tier does not have. Then the math. The $45 nightly Hotel Service Fee covers Wi-Fi, pool and beach towels, bikes, Illy coffee and local calls. Self-parking at a covered lot nearby runs $45 a day with in-and-out privileges. Drive in for three nights and that is $270 in fees and parking before tax, plus a $150 per day hold for incidentals. Leave the car home and the number halves. It suits couples who want a walkable, design-led base and will trade square footage for it.

Does The Plymouth South Beach charge a resort fee?
Yes, $45 per room, per night, plus applicable tax. The operator labels it a Hotel Service Fee rather than a resort fee, but it is mandatory. It covers in-room Wi-Fi, pool access, pool and beach towels, bike use, Illy coffee, infused water and unlimited local calls.
How much is parking, and is there valet?
$45 per day plus tax, self-park in a covered lot nearby, with in-and-out privileges for the whole stay. The operator publishes no valet option and no separate day-use rate. Stacked on the service fee, arriving by car adds about $90 a night before tax.
How far is the beach?
About two blocks east. The hotel sits at 336 21st Street in Collins Park and runs a private beach setup at the 21st Street sand. Beach towels are included in the service fee; the operator's inclusion list does not cover umbrellas, and guests report paying extra for one.
What are check-in and check-out times?
4:00 PM and 11:00 AM. Early arrival and late departure are sometimes available for a charge, depending on occupancy. Budget for a $150 per day authorization for incidentals placed at check-in on top of the room and fees.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, up to two dogs per stay, 25 lbs maximum each. A $250 non-refundable cleaning fee applies per stay, waived for certified service dogs. Larger dogs and other pets are not accepted.
Which room should I book here?
Go above the Classic tier if light and space matter to you. Classic rooms draw the most size complaints, and some look onto neighboring buildings and stay dark. Juliette Pool View, Classic Terrace and the suites are where reviewers stop mentioning the squeeze. Street-facing rooms also catch late-night noise, so ask for something off the street if you sleep lightly.
