You're walking into a design museum, and it behaves like one. The collection runs 1850 to 1950: decorative arts, graphic and industrial design, rare publications, mostly European and American with some material from Latin America, Asia and Africa. If Art Deco and Art Moderne already interest you, you'll slow down and read the labels, and you'll probably land inside the 1-2 hours most visitors report. The museum doesn't publish a suggested length of its own. If design history leaves you cold, an hour in here will feel like two. The catch is the calendar. It's closed Monday and Tuesday, every week, a narrower window than most Miami Beach attractions and a real problem on a short trip that lands wrong. Confirm the day before you build an afternoon around it. Parking is the other friction. There's no museum lot, so you're feeding a Washington Avenue meter or paying a city garage, and the museum never quotes what either one costs. The admission math is simple, at least: $12 for adults, $8 for seniors, students with ID and ages 6 to 18. Florida residents, kids under 6, and active military and veterans get in free. So does everyone on Fridays between 6 and 9pm. Families with young kids have the Wolf Cubs program to work with.

- No museum lot, and the museum publishes no rate for anything nearby (its old parking-guide PDF is gone from the site). You'll use metered street parking on Washington Avenue or a City of Miami Beach garage: 12th Street between Washington and Pennsylvania, Collins Avenue at 7th or at 13th, or Drexel Avenue at 12th. Rates are set by the city, not the museum. Municipal Lot P13 at 1000 Washington, right by the door, is called out for drop-off and pick-up. With a valid disabled-parking permit, city meters, lots and garages are free, and there are ADA spaces on 10th and 11th between Washington and Collins.

How much does it cost to get in?

What days is it closed?
Monday and Tuesday, both days, every week. That's the main planning trap here, since a short Miami Beach trip can easily miss the open window entirely. Check current hours on the museum's site before you commit an afternoon.
Where do I park, and what does it cost?
In a City of Miami Beach garage or at a Washington Avenue meter, and the museum doesn't publish a price for either. There's no museum lot. The garages it points you to are on 12th Street between Washington and Pennsylvania, Collins Avenue at 7th and at 13th, and Drexel Avenue at 12th. Those rates are set by the city, so the City of Miami Beach parking site is where a current figure would come from. If you have a valid disabled-parking permit, city meters, lots and garages are free.
Does the $12 ticket cover special exhibitions?
Unclear, so ask at the desk. The museum's visit page lists the admission prices but never says whether temporary or special exhibitions are covered by general admission or ticketed separately. The library reading room is a separate matter: visits there run by appointment, and group library add-ons carry their own fee.
Can I get there without a car?
Easily. Metrobus and Miami Beach Trolley stops are within a block of the door at 1001 Washington Avenue, Citi Bike docks sit at 9th and 11th Streets, and there are bike racks along Washington Avenue. Given that the parking cost is an unknown, arriving without a car is the simpler plan here.
