The rooftop is why you book the Moxy, and it's also why you won't sleep. This is Moxy's first Florida hotel, built from the ground up and opened in February 2021, and it does the fun part well: a pool and bar on the roof with real views, design that photographs better than almost anything else on this stretch, and an address two blocks off Ocean Drive that puts the sand and Lincoln Road inside a flip-flop walk. Front desk staff and bartenders get named personally in reviews, which doesn't happen often. Then the catch, and it repeats: the rooms are tiny. Guests keep calling them the smallest they've stayed in, several mention there's nowhere to set a suitcase down, and noise from the rooftop DJ, the hallway and the neighboring doors carries into the room late. Some describe it as almost constant. There's also money the nightly rate hides. Parking is $54 a day whether you self-park or valet, and valet SUVs run $65 plus tax, so three nights with a car adds about $162 before the destination fee guests report at roughly $27-30 a night with tax. That's a budget-brand room with a South Beach bill attached. It's a great pick for a friend group that intends to be on the roof anyway, and a bad one for light sleepers, couples wanting a quiet night, or families who need floor space.
