A 1953 Morris Lapidus landmark restored into a Ritz-Carlton, sitting on the sand at the busiest end of South Beach. Reviewers agree on what works: attentive staff (service is the most consistently positive theme across every source), the signature cross-shaped pool, the spa, and a spot at 1 Lincoln Road that puts Ocean Drive and Washington Avenue within a walk. They agree on the problems too. Night noise comes up constantly, from nightlife music bleeding in to thin walls and hallway sound in rooms near the elevators. Value is the other one: dated decor, worn bedding and mattresses, views reviewers call underwhelming for a flagship Ritz-Carlton, and occasional maintenance lapses like damaged pool tile. The brand name is what trips people up. This is a boutique-scale historic building with older room footprints in the liveliest stretch of the beach, so anyone arriving expecting hushed, sprawling, new-build luxury is the one who leaves let down. Couples and design-minded travelers who want genuine beachfront and walkable nightlife tend to love it. Light sleepers should skip it. Then the fees. The resort fee is $70 a night, and it never shows on the property page, only once you enter dates in the booking engine. Valet runs $65 a day and it's the only parking option here.
