Budget half a day. Fairchild's FAQ puts a full visit at about 2.5 hours to cover all 83 acres, and its Visit page tells you to allow three hours or more if you want to see the whole garden. The 2.1 miles of path are fully paved and flat, which is what makes this workable with a stroller or a wheelchair. The garden loans wheelchairs free, has ADA restrooms and automatic doors, and will send a shuttle on request. The catch is the tram. It's free and narrated, and it's the only alternative to walking the whole property, but it's first-come, first-served, runs weather permitting, and has no published schedule (you ask Guest Services in The Shop for current times). So don't build your visit around it. If it's full or rained out, seeing the garden properly means walking 2.1 miles in Miami heat, and Fairchild publishes no shade or heat guidance anywhere on its site. Mornings are the safer bet. Who it suits: families with kids, thanks to the Children's Garden and the Wings of the Tropics butterfly and hummingbird exhibit; plant and horticulture people, who could spend the full three hours; and photographers. If you can only give it 90 minutes, you'll pay full admission and see a slice.

- Arriving on foot, by bike or by transit takes $5 off an adult ticket and $2 off a child's. Active military and veterans free, first responders 50% off, AAA $2 off, seniors 62+ free the first Wednesday of each month, and discounted 13 to 22 tickets through Culture Shock Miami.

Is parking free at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden?

Yes. The 2.1-mile path network is fully paved and flat, wheelchair loans are free, the trams are wheelchair-accessible with assistive listening devices, and restrooms are ADA. There's also an on-request shuttle for guests with disabilities, plus automatic doors at the entrances.
