This is effectively a new hotel wearing an old name, and that gap explains most of what you will read about it. The Shelborne closed, took a $100 million rebuild, and reopened in May 2025 with 251 redesigned rooms, so any review dated earlier describes a property that no longer exists. Check dates before you trust a star rating on the big booking sites. Guests since the reopening repeat three things: staff who go out of their way, a pool deck built around the restored Art Deco diving platform, and rooms that feel small for the address. Entry rooms run 280 to 340 square feet, and reviewers keep mentioning tight storage and nowhere good to park a suitcase. The other steady complaint through spring 2026 was construction on both sides of the building, loud enough by day that a poolside afternoon beats a nap. Restaurant reviews split: the food gets praised, the pace gets patience notes. Then the math the nightly rate hides. A $75 daily resort fee plus $55 a night for valet, which is the only parking, adds about $130 a night before tax. The fee does cover things you would otherwise pay for: two beach chairs daily, bikes, twice-daily fitness classes, coffee and water. Spend your days on the sand and it holds up. Book it for a Convention Center trip two blocks away and never touch the beach, and you are paying $75 a day for coffee and Wi-Fi.

Mid-Collins at 18th Street, on the sand and a few blocks north of the Ocean Drive crowds. Lincoln Road Mall is about 0.4 miles away, roughly a five-minute walk, and the Miami Beach Convention Center sits two blocks west, under ten minutes on foot. That combination is the real draw of this address: you get an oceanfront pool deck and beach chairs without being in the middle of the strip, and you can walk to a conference instead of paying $55 a night to park near one.

Is there self-parking at the Shelborne?

No, valet only. It runs $55 per night per vehicle plus local taxes, which are not included in that figure. The hotel notes pricing can go up during special events and peak periods, so a Super Bowl or Art Basel week may cost more. No day rate or hourly rate is published, so if you are visiting rather than staying, call ahead instead of assuming.

What does the $75 resort fee actually cover?

Beach access with two chairs a day, plus daily coffee and bottled water, twice-daily fitness classes morning and evening, use of the bicycles, premium Wi-Fi, and beach toys for kids. That is more than most South Beach resort fees deliver. Whether it stings depends on your trip: it is decent value if you are on the sand every day, and close to dead money if you are in meetings.

Is construction noise a problem?

During the day, sometimes. Reviewers through spring 2026 consistently mention active building on both sides of the property, which is common across Miami Beach right now. Most describe it as background noise rather than ruinous, but at least one guest said it made resting in the room impossible and was moved to a better room. Ask at booking for something facing the ocean rather than the side streets.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, dogs only, with a $100 non-refundable fee per dog. Cats are not permitted. Call before you book if your dog is medium-sized: the hotel's own FAQ page publishes two different limits, one saying up to 45 lbs each with a maximum of two dogs, another saying up to 25 lbs. The hotel donates 10% of the pet fee to Best Friends Animal Society. Service animals are always welcome and are not charged.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is 4:00 PM, check-out is 11:00 AM. Both can flex on request if the hotel has room, though a late check-out may carry a fee. One thing to know if you are booking inside a week: cancelling within 7 days of arrival costs you one night's room and tax, so a genuinely last-minute booking here is close to non-refundable.
