Our take

By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer

Plan on 60 to 90 minutes inside, which is the operator's own estimate and does vary by visitor. Entry is timed and the route runs one way, so you arrive in a slot and keep moving forward through large-format rooms: Studio Lemercier's Lightfall, a JR mural, and work from teamLab, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Random International, James Turrell and Es Devlin. That rhythm suits anyone who likes to take a room in, photograph it and move on. It suits a stroller-paced toddler day less, because doubling back to the room your kid loved isn't really how the building works. The catch is worth knowing before you buy. teamLab's Massless Clouds and James Turrell's Blue Sea Sky, the two pieces people actually talk about, aren't covered by general admission. They're sold on top of it, and Massless Clouds adds $12. Your ticket does include other work by both artists, so you aren't missing them entirely, just those two rooms. Still, the upsell lands at the door rather than in the listing, which is the part that annoys people. Two things soften it, and both are free with admission. A guided tour runs daily at 1pm, and the Bloomberg Connects audio tour costs nothing if you bring your own headphones. Kids are welcome at any age, though anyone under 48 inches or under 3 needs an adult with them inside the teamLab installation.

Superblue Miami FAQ

How long does a visit to Superblue Miami take?

60 to 90 minutes, by Superblue's own estimate, and it varies by visitor. Add time if you browse the Concept Store on the way out. If you want the free guided tour, build the visit around its 1pm start.

Is there parking at Superblue Miami?

Not on site. Superblue points you to metered street parking on NW 23rd Street, NW 11th Avenue and NW 12th Avenue, or valet at the venue for a fee. It never publishes the valet rate on its site, so you won't know that number until you hand over the keys.

Are Massless Clouds and Blue Sea Sky included with admission?

No, both are sold separately on top of general admission, and teamLab's Massless Clouds adds $12. Your general admission does include other work by teamLab and James Turrell, so it's those two rooms you're paying extra for, not those artists.

Can I bring kids?

Yes, at any age. Superblue sets no age restriction for children to enter, and it offers study guides pitched at ages 3 to 12. The one rule to know: inside the teamLab installation, children under 48 inches tall or under age 3 need an adult with them.

How do I get to Superblue without a car?

Santa Clara Station on the Metrorail Orange Line is the closest stop. Brightline's Miami Central Station also serves the area, and Brightline+ passholders get free transportation within a 5-mile radius. Rideshare drop-off is at the main entrance on NW 23rd Street, between NW 11th and NW 12th Avenues.

Is a guided tour or audio guide included?

Both are, at no extra cost. A guided tour runs daily at 1pm with general admission, and the Bloomberg Connects audio tour is free as well. Bring your own headphones for the audio tour, because you'll need them.
