Rose Parade 2027 Hotels: One Pasadena Hotel Still Sells Dec. 31

The Rose Parade starts at 8 a.m. on Friday, January 1, 2027, at Green Street and Orange Grove Boulevard and turns east onto Colorado soon after, so the night you need is December 31. On October 19 we tried to book that one night at the hotels near the route, and Downtown and Old Town had nothing. Of the Pasadena hotels we tried, the only one that would still sell it was The Langham Huntington, south of the route near the San Marino line.

A College Football Playoff quarterfinal kicks off at the Rose Bowl the same afternoon, at 1 p.m. or 5 p.m. Pacific, and the slot won't be fixed until after selection on December 6. Fans of both teams want the same rooms as everyone who came for the floats.

Sold out in Old Town and downtown

Pasadena numbers its streets outward from Colorado Boulevard and Fair Oaks Avenue, so an address tells you roughly how far the curb is. The Westin Pasadena at 191 North Los Robles showed Sold Out for the one night. Two nights from the 30th and three from the 29th came back the same way, so this isn't a minimum stay hiding the room. The Courtyard Pasadena/Old Town at 180 North Fair Oaks was sold out. Both are a little under 200 numbers north of Colorado.

Marriott's list of nearby hotels marked the Residence Inn Pasadena/Old Town on West Walnut, which Marriott puts 0.3 miles from Old Pasadena, as sold out, along with Hotel Dena at 303 Cordova Street, south of Colorado, and Le Méridien Pasadena Arcadia, farther east. The Courtyard Los Angeles Monterey Park still had a rate for the night, but that puts you in another city on parade morning, driving in with everyone else.

Hyatt Place Pasadena at 399 East Green Street, south of Colorado, had a booking screen that said the hotel was not available for those dates. Hilton Pasadena on South Los Robles, which Hilton describes as a few blocks from the route, said it had no rooms. We read each of these once, on one day. Rooms come back when people cancel, so a hotel you want is worth checking again in November.

The two route hotels we tried are out

Pasadena Hotel & Pool fronts Colorado Boulevard at South Mentor Avenue, right on the route. Its booking engine refused one night and two nights ending January 1. Asked for three nights, it said: "We are closed on December 31, 2026. Please select alternate dates." The hotel doesn't explain. Its events page offers parade viewing parties in the Presidential Suite, whose terrace looks over Colorado, so ask at (626) 884-4150 whether the night is being sold some other way.

The AC Hotel Pasadena stands at Madison Avenue and Colorado, and Marriott's rooms page pictures a king room with a balcony over the boulevard. It was sold out. Osa, the bar on its roof, ran a ticketed party from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. last New Year's Eve, and we found nothing posted for this one.

Two motels also sit on the closed stretch of Colorado: the Vagabond Inn at 1203 East Colorado, and the Saga Motor Hotel at 1633, which Visit Pasadena lists as on the parade route. We didn't check either for December 31.

The Langham: south of the route, $70 a night in fees

We hit no minimum stay at the Langham. It's on South Oak Knoll Avenue near the San Marino line, in a resort that opened in 1907 and took the Huntington name in 1914, and it publishes no walking time to the route.

Its Lucid house car goes anywhere within 3 miles from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., subject to availability. That can drop you near Colorado on the evening of the 31st. It can't bring you back overnight or get you there before the 8 a.m. start.

Every night carries a $70 Guest Amenity Fee plus tax. Valet at $50 overnight is the only way to park, since self-parking and street parking aren't allowed, so with a car the fee and valet come to $120 a night before tax and before the room. The offers page has no parade package and nothing dated December 31. The Tournament of Roses Suite looks out on the Horseshoe Garden and the San Gabriel Mountains, and nothing on its page says you can see the route from it.

Parking on the night of the 31st

Hyatt Place is the only one of these hotels to put a price on the night of December 31 itself, and it's last year's: $55 including tax for December 31, 2025, raised for the parade and the game. Pasadena Hotel & Pool charges guests $45 a night on Rose Bowl weekend, without saying which dates count.

The rest publish only everyday rates. Valet is $50 a day at the AC Hotel and $35 at the Hilton, which has no self-parking and doesn't say whether the $35 is per night or per 24 hours. Self-parking is $40 a day at the Courtyard, and Marriott lists the same at the Residence Inn, though its attractions page promises free parking for multi-night stays. Hotel Dena charges $36 overnight, and the Westin $19 a day to self-park.

If you're staying farther out, last year's rules let you park overnight on Pasadena streets from noon on the 31st, for that night only and never on the route, and the city's advice was to be parked before 6 a.m. Self-contained RVs could stay at Brookside Park by the Rose Bowl, first come, first served. Metro ran rail all night last year, and this year's A Line hours weren't posted when we checked.

Colorado closes at 10 p.m. on the 31st

Police close Colorado Boulevard to cars from Orange Grove to Sierra Madre at 10 p.m. on December 31, and northbound Sierra Madre up to Paloma Street with it. Colorado reopens at 2 p.m. on January 1. The Tournament has posted that window for 2027. Last year the city told anyone hosting a party along Colorado that their guests and vendors had to arrive before 10 p.m. or park outside the restricted area and walk in, and its 2027 notice usually comes out in early December. None of the hotels near the route say what happens to a valeted car during the closure, so plan on leaving it parked until the afternoon of the 1st.

The 2027 Parade Day Guide isn't out, and under last year's the curb opened for camping at noon on December 31. Your things had to stay on the curb until 11 p.m., and then you could move up to the blue honor line, but not past it. Anyone under 18 needed an adult with them on the route between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The city removed unoccupied chairs, and you couldn't mark out a spot with tape or spray paint, so somebody has to sit with your space all night. A hotel a few blocks away lets you take turns, one of you asleep while the other keeps the chairs, with a real bathroom in between. Tents weren't allowed. Neither were umbrellas, because they block the view behind you. Expect company at midnight: the Run with the Roses 5K started on the route at 11:59 p.m. last year.

If you'd rather have a seat, Sharp Seating sells the grandstands at face value from its office at 1737 East Colorado Boulevard (626-795-4171). We couldn't read its 2027 prices. Last year the Tournament asked grandstand ticket holders on Orange Grove to arrive by 6:30 a.m., and anyone in a grandstand seat west of Fair Oaks, near the start, to be in place by 7.
