Pasadena Hotel & Pool sells itself on the second half of its name: a heated pool on the roof, open every day of the year from 7 AM to 10 PM. Underneath it is a 1926 building with 161 rooms and suites on Colorado Boulevard, right on the Tournament of Roses Parade route, and if you're coming for New Year's it matters more than anything else here. The lobby bar serves breakfast and dinner every day. Dogs are welcome, up to two per room at 75 pounds each for $75 apiece, but the hotel sets aside no pet-free rooms, which anyone with allergies should weigh before booking. Every night adds a $15.76 resort fee on top of the rate, covering Wi-Fi, calls, the gym and the pool. A car costs more than the fee does. Self-parking is $32 a night on the hotel's FAQ, and the same page also says $29, so ask at check-in which one goes on your bill. At $32, driving in adds $47.76 a night to the room, and the FAQ doesn't say whether tax goes on top of either charge. Rose Bowl weekends push parking to $45, which makes it $60.76. Without a car, the $15.76 is the only nightly add-on the hotel publishes.
