Downtown Dallas hotels lean on the convention center for weekday business, and the center is being rebuilt. HVS counts 65 upscale-and-above downtown hotels, about 18,100 rooms, and puts their occupancy in the low 60s in 2025, down from the high 60s before 2020. The $3.8 billion redevelopment has cut citywide events since 2025 and the expanded center isn't scheduled to fully reopen until 2030, which points to midweek as the cheap end of the week. We found no published downtown weekday table.
December is the cheapest month in Engine's metro-wide business-travel data. June is the dearest. The BMW Dallas Marathon runs December 11 to 13, with the expo at the convention center and the start at City Hall Plaza, and Reunion Tower has put on a New Year's Eve show for ten years running (the 2026 program isn't out yet). HYROX Dallas is on the center's calendar for November 18 to 22. June and July 2026 were a World Cup spike, with average downtown rates up about 25% in each month.
Four of the twelve showed a nightly fee on the booking screen: $25 at the Adolphus and the Sheraton, $30 at the Marriott. The Magnolia's was $18.48, with a $3.18 Dallas Tourism PID fee and a $3.67 state cost recovery fee itemized beside it. Seven showed none, and the Joule's couldn't be read. Self-parking is listed at six hotels, from $20 to $38. Valet is $68 at the Adolphus and the Joule, and the Hyatt Regency's runs $50 to $75 depending on the dates. Room tax comes on top, and the state's share is 6%. The Crowne Plaza's screen showed one tax line of 18.25%, and Hyatt's policies page quotes 17.30%. DART closed its Convention Center Station to riders in January 2026 and says it reopens once the convention center construction is complete, with no date given. Love Field has no rail at all.
Midweek, and in December. The convention center has hosted fewer citywide events since 2025 and isn't scheduled to fully reopen until 2030, which keeps weekday demand soft. Engine's metro-wide business-travel data has December as the cheapest month.
$20 to $93 a night before any tax, at the eleven hotels we could add up. Four show a nightly fee on the booking screen. It's $25 at the Adolphus and the Sheraton and $30 at the Marriott, and the Magnolia's $18.48 comes with a $3.18 Dallas Tourism PID fee and a $3.67 state cost recovery fee beside it. The Adolphus comes to $93 with its $68 valet. The Lorenzo, with no fee on its screen and $20 self-parking, is the low end.
Seven of the twelve: the Omni Dallas, Hyatt Regency Dallas, Lorenzo, Westin, Crowne Plaza, Statler and Renaissance Saint Elm. Each booking screen for November 11, 2026 had no fee line. The Joule's screen priced every offer "including all fees" without itemizing, so we can't say whether a fee is in there.
No. The twelve hotels are 5 to 25 minutes' walk from the convention center, and the Omni connects to it by skybridge. A DART local day pass is $6 and the Orange Line serves DFW Terminal A. Love Field has no rail, and the Adolphus's FAQ prices a taxi at $25 from Love Field and $50 from DFW.
The Omni Dallas, 5 minutes on foot, with a skybridge entered from its third floor. The Marriott at 25 minutes and the Sheraton at 24 are the farthest. All walk times are routed on streets.
About 17 to 18%. Hyatt's policies page quotes 17.30%, and the Crowne Plaza's booking screen showed 18.25%. The state's share is 6%. The Magnolia's screen put city tax and state tax on separate lines and added a Dallas Tourism PID fee and a state cost recovery fee, so check the total before you book.
