Our take

By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer

EAST Miami is a lifestyle hotel that doubles as a nightlife venue, and that one fact shapes the whole stay. The Sugar rooftop and the pool deck pull a heavy crowd of people who aren't sleeping in the building. Guests who love the atmosphere are praising that exact crowd, though even fans note how hard it is to stay here on business when so many people around you aren't. Opinions split sharply between guests who love it and guests who feel burned, with little middle ground between them. In the low end the same things repeat: rooms that feel small for what they cost, a front desk that doesn't always pick up the phone, and one recent report of roaches in a room. Plenty of guests say outright that it didn't feel like a five-star property to them. Staff warmth is the real counterweight, and it comes up constantly. Then the fee math. A destination fee of $54 plus tax per night gets charged on arrival, and EAST publishes no parking rate at all on its own site, so budget that as an open number if you're driving. Book it for the design, the skyline views and the Brickell walkability. Look elsewhere if you need quiet and predictability.

EAST Miami FAQ

Does EAST Miami charge a resort fee?

Yes. It's a destination fee of $54 plus tax per night, charged when you arrive rather than shown in the headline rate. The hotel says it covers two beach chairs and an umbrella at the beach, 4 hours of daily fitness programming, and use of its electric bikes. Worth knowing that EAST is in Brickell rather than on the beach, so ask at the desk how that beach-chair line actually works before you count on it.

Is there parking at EAST Miami, and what does it cost?

The hotel doesn't publish a parking rate. Nothing on its policies, location, rooms or transportation pages lists a valet or self-park price, overnight or daily. The building at 788 Brickell Plaza is a mixed-use tower, so parking may be run by the building rather than the hotel, though EAST doesn't confirm that either way. Call ahead and get a number if you're arriving by car, and treat it as an unknown line in your budget until you do.

How far is EAST Miami from the beach?

It isn't a beach hotel. EAST sits inland in Brickell, on the downtown mainland side, so any beach day means a drive or a rideshare across the water. Pick it for the Brickell dining and rooftop scene and treat the beach as a separate outing.

What time is check-in and check-out at EAST Miami?

Check-in is 3:00 PM and check-out is 12 noon. That noon check-out is earlier than a lot of Miami hotels, so if you're flying out late, plan on bag storage rather than a slow morning in the room.

Is EAST Miami worth it?

It depends on what you want out of the trip. If you're here for design, skyline and bay views, the Sugar rooftop and a walkable Brickell base, guests consistently say it delivers, and staff warmth is the single most praised thing about the place. If you want quiet and operational polish, the reviews push the other way: small rooms for the money, a front desk that reviewers say doesn't always answer the phone, and a recent report of roaches in a room. Add $54 plus tax a night before you've parked the car, and the value question gets sharper.

Can I bring my dog to EAST Miami?

Yes, dogs only, with a 25 lb maximum. The fee is $150 per pet per stay and you sign a pet waiver on arrival. Dogs aren't allowed in the hotel's public spaces, though service dogs are permitted in the bars and restaurants. No other animals are accepted, and there's a $250 charge for cleaning up animal waste.
