Our take

By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer

Conrad Washington DC showed 8 rooms and no mandatory-charge line on Hilton's 17 November screen, so the room carries only the District's 15.95% tax. Self-parking is not offered. Valet is $80 a night, covered, with in-and-out privileges, $21 more than the Hampton Inn's $59 and the same figure the Waldorf Astoria and the Westin ask. No hotel here lists more. Hilton's page does not say whether tax is added to it. Two nights with the car is $160 in valet. Event parking is $30. From 950 New York Ave NW the walk to Capital One Arena takes 11 minutes. Pets are allowed at $200 non-refundable, up to 75 pounds and two dogs; the Waldorf Astoria's $250 is the one higher pet fee here. Rooms open at 4 PM, and checkout is 11 AM, an hour before the noon checkout at seven of the other hotels. Hilton's offers page carries a Valet & Stay package.
