Breakfast comes with the room at the Independence Park Hotel: a hot spread in a glass-enclosed atrium, with afternoon cookies and tea. It is part of Best Western's Premier Collection, and some listings still call it the Best Western Plus Independence Park Hotel. It stands at 235 Chestnut Street, 8 minutes on foot from Independence Hall. There is no lot. The hotel sells a preferred rate of $28 a night at the Ritz Public Parking Garage, with in and out privileges, but only if you buy it through the hotel and collect a parking card at the front desk before you enter the garage. That $28 is less than half the $61 to $69 that valet costs at the Monaco, the Renaissance and the Marriott. Two nights come to $56, and the hotel does not say whether tax is on top. The booking screen for 17 November showed two small fee lines on a one-night quote: a Local Fee of $2.00 and a line labelled HPF of $5.20. The screen explains neither, and it names no resort or destination fee.
