There is no front desk at the Society Hill Hotel. A four-digit code for your room arrives by text before you do, which works for a late arrival. It has twelve rooms in an 1832 building at 301 Chestnut Street, rebuilt room by room after a fire and reopened in spring 2024, 7 minutes on foot from Independence Hall. Reaching them means climbing, because it is a four-story walk-up with no elevator, and a queen room is 180 square feet. There is no on-site parking; the FAQ points to a public garage a short walk away and names no price. A 100% deposit is taken at booking. Cancelling 14 or more days ahead costs $25 per room, and inside 14 days the whole stay is charged, which is where every last-minute booking sits. Staying past 11 AM without approval is $200. The booking screen for 17 November listed three tax lines and no fee. Pets are not allowed, and a violation can cost up to $1,000. Piccolina, a separate business, serves lunch and dinner downstairs, and the hotel itself serves no breakfast.
