Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
Renovation work at Hotel Tampa Riverwalk is scheduled to run until November 30, 2026, and the property's posted notice lists the pool, pool bar, fitness center, River's Edge restaurant and lobby bar as closed until then. A temporary gym in the ballroom and a limited grab-and-go counter stand in, and the work runs on weekdays and Saturdays. The hotel's own website still shows the pool as open, so don't plan a stay around it. Guests this year report construction noise, and several say nobody warned them before they got to the desk; one was moved out of the room type they'd reserved. Rooms that haven't been redone yet come across as worn, with tired carpet and stained tubs, and a musty smell in rooms and hallways keeps turning up. The location is what people still like. The building sits on the Riverwalk beside the Hillsborough River, and river-view rooms with balconies get singled out even in reviews that are unhappy about everything else. Until December you're paying for a room on the water with very little of the hotel around it. Phone the hotel before you book and confirm it's operating on your dates, because the building is partway through a planned change to a Hilton Curio Collection hotel. There's no resort fee. Parking is valet only at $44 plus tax a night, and the hotel lists no self-park option.

$44 plus tax per night, and it's valet only. The hotel's site lists no self-parking option and no oversized-vehicle rate, so call ahead if you're driving something tall.
Is the pool open during the renovation?
