Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
The free shuttle to Tampa International runs from 5 am to 11:30 pm, and it does most of the work for this full-service Hilton on North Lois Avenue. International Plaza and the Bay Street restaurants are close enough to walk, and guests say the front desk moves fast even for a late-night arrival, answering requests like extra blankets quickly. Several guests found the beds comfortable. The building is where it slips. Recent stays describe torn furniture and peeling wallpaper, with bathrooms patched in chipped, mismatched touch-ups. Showers that won't drain and water that won't get hot both keep coming up. Housekeeping is uneven too, with dusty vents and missing supplies in several recent stays. The AC complaints come from summer: thermostats that do nothing, rooms that never cool, guests moved more than once, and one failure left unrepaired overnight. In the cooler months you're mostly putting up with wear in exchange for the location and the staff. In July or August, when a cold room is the point, booking here is a gamble. Hilton lists no resort fee on the hotel's info page, and the booking screen showed no mandatory charge on September 19. There's no valet. Self-parking is $25 a day, and guests say they didn't expect it. Fly in and ride the shuttle, and that $25 never touches your bill.
