Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
The staff at this Westshore Boulevard Marriott get more praise than the building does. Returning guests talk about particular employees more than the rooms, and many name the person who helped them. The rooms don't always keep up. Some were refurbished a few years ago, but guests as recently as May 2026 still describe popcorn ceilings and bathrooms showing their age, so don't book expecting a freshly redone room. Tampa International is a short ride away and a cluster of Westshore restaurants sits close by. Parking is the sore point for longtime regulars. Self-parking used to be free, and since around June 2025 it costs $20 a day, with no valet option at all. Marriott's own page for the hotel publishes no resort fee, which leaves that $20 as the only extra it discloses. For one night before an early departure, the dated decor barely registers. A four-night work trip is a different booking, because housekeeping is where this hotel slips. Reports from July 2025 and May 2026 include a room that went uncleaned mid-stay with no do-not-disturb request, and another handed over at check-in with the bed still unmade.
