Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
W South Beach closed on August 20, 2026, so there's nothing here to book tonight. Marriott's page for the property returns a 404, and the brand's own Miami Beach search no longer lists it. Hilton has said it will renovate the building and reopen it as Waldorf Astoria Miami Beach in winter 2027. Our full write-up is on hold until that hotel opens and publishes its own fees, parking rates and check-in times. Anything we wrote about the old W would describe a hotel you can't stay in.

Is W South Beach still open?
No. It closed on August 20, 2026. Marriott's pages for the hotel now return 404 errors, and searching Miami Beach on Marriott with the W filter turns up only W Miami and W Fort Lauderdale.
Can I book a room there for tonight?
No, the hotel is out of Marriott's inventory. If a booking site still shows rooms at W South Beach, it's working from stale data. Pick another South Beach property instead.
What is the resort fee at W South Beach?
There isn't a current one to quote. The operator page is gone, so no resort fee, parking rate, or check-in time is published anywhere we can verify. Older figures floating around online describe a hotel that no longer operates.
What is happening to the building?
Hilton plans to renovate it and reopen it as Waldorf Astoria Miami Beach in winter 2027. It leaves the Marriott Bonvoy program in the process, so Bonvoy points and status won't apply there.
Where was it, and how close was the beach?
2201 Collins Avenue in South Beach, directly on the sand. Guests walked to Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive from the front door.
Should I wait for the Waldorf Astoria to open?
Only if your trip is winter 2027 or later. Nothing beyond the reopening window has been published yet: no rates, no fees, no room counts. We'll write this page properly once those exist.
