Our take

By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer

This stopped being a Kimpton in March 2026, and that's the first thing to know. The property left the IHG flag and now runs independently as Angler's Hotel Miami Beach under Saint-Louis Hotels, so IHG points and status no longer apply here. Guests are broadly positive, and location stands out most: a short flat walk through the Art Deco district to Ocean Drive, Lincoln Road and the sand. Reviewers name front-desk staff individually for fixing arrival problems, and the rooftop pool gets steady praise. The catch is that one rating covers two very different buildings. Rooms in the older Annex draw repeated complaints about mold smell, roaring or broken AC, stained furniture and thin walls. Main-building rooms get called bigger than expected. Ask to be kept out of the Annex when you book rather than trusting the average. Value is the weakest point, and the fee math shows why. The resort fee is $40 per room per night plus $5.60 fee tax, so $45.60. Parking is valet only, $45 a night plus tax, or $57 for an oversized vehicle. That's over $90 a night before your room rate. It suits couples who want a walkable South Beach base with a pool. Tight day-use layovers are the wrong fit: check-in delays of about two hours come up again and again.

Kimpton Angler's Hotel South Beach FAQ

Does Angler's Hotel charge a resort fee?

Yes, $40 per room per night plus $5.60 in fee tax, so $45.60 a night. It covers Wi-Fi for up to 5 devices, unlimited rooftop pool access, a welcome drink on arrival, beach bag and towels, private beach access with 2 chairs per room, F45 fitness classes, EV charging, and e-bikes free for the first 2 hours. Beach umbrellas cost extra, and e-bike time past 2 hours runs $15 an hour.

How much is parking at Angler's Hotel?

$45 a night plus tax for a standard car and $57 a night plus tax for an oversized vehicle. Valet is the only option, there's no self-park, and the garage is private underground. Day visitors who aren't staying pay $25 plus tax. Two EV charging stations are on site and included in the resort fee.

How far is the beach?

A short flat walk east through the Art Deco district. Location is what guests consistently rate highest, with Ocean Drive and Lincoln Road both walkable from the door. The hotel also runs private beach access through Boucher Brothers, and 2 chairs per room are included in the resort fee.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is 4:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM. One warning if you're booking a day-use room around a cruise or a flight: guests report waiting roughly two hours past their slot to actually get into a room, which eats most of a short layover window.

Is this still a Kimpton hotel?

No. The property left the Kimpton and IHG flag in March 2026 and now operates independently as Angler's Hotel Miami Beach under Saint-Louis Hotels, a Parisian boutique group. IHG points, status and loyalty perks don't apply. Several booking sites still show the old Kimpton name, and some guests holding pre-March reservations hit disputes and long waits during the changeover.

Is Angler's Hotel worth booking?

Yes if you want a walkable South Beach base with a rooftop pool, and you request a main-building room. Value is what guests rate lowest, and rooms in the older Annex building draw repeated complaints about mold smell, broken AC, stained furniture and thin walls that the overall positive reputation hides. Budget $45.60 in resort fee plus $45 valet on top of whatever rate you find.
