Our take

By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer

The pool deck is the product here, and the room is where you change between rounds. Guests consistently praise the same things: the Washington Avenue location, the retro-glam design, and a front desk that pays attention. Then they get to the rooms. The steady complaint is size. Guests cite around 180 square feet with the bed pushed against the wall, tight even for one person. The louder catch is noise. Daily DJ sets and pool parties on the deck run long, and the complaints got serious enough to draw city citations and put the hotel's entertainment permit at risk. The energy you're booking for is the energy that reaches your room. Some guests also describe service that treats overnight guests like day-pass pool customers: slow bar and food service, housekeeping lapses. Then the math the nightly rate hides. The resort fee is $40 plus tax per night, per room, and several guests report being charged it twice, so check your folio before you leave. Parking is valet only at $50 plus tax overnight. That's $90 plus tax a night on top of the room. This suits solo travelers and couples who came for the pool and the nightlife and plan to be out of the room all day. If a quiet night's sleep matters more to you than the scene, book elsewhere.

601 Washington Avenue, in the thick of South Beach, with the sand and the Washington Avenue bars both an easy walk. That density cuts both ways: it's why the location scores so well in reviews, and why the pool deck's noise has drawn complaints from neighbors as well as guests.

the goodtime hotel, Miami Beach, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel FAQ

Does the Goodtime Hotel charge a resort fee?

Yes. $40 plus tax per night, per room. It covers daily beach access with two chairs, the pool programming and DJ sets, two hours of beach-bike use for up to two guests, an arrival Prosecco toast, and upgraded wifi. Some guests report being billed the fee twice, so read your folio before you check out.

How much is parking at the Goodtime Hotel?

$50 plus tax a night for valet, with unlimited in and out. Valet is the only option the hotel publishes, so there's no self-parking to fall back on. Under eight hours the day rate is $30 plus tax, and oversize vehicles pay $10 over the posted rate. A validated rate exists if you eat at the restaurant, but the hotel's policy page and its FAQ page quote two different numbers, so ask at the desk.

How far is the Goodtime Hotel from the beach?

A short walk. It's at 601 Washington Avenue in South Beach, and reviewers consistently name the walk to the sand and to the nightlife as the property's strongest feature. Daily beach access with two chairs is included in the resort fee.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is 4:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM. Early check-in and late check-out are both subject to availability.

Is the Goodtime Hotel worth it?

It depends on whether you want the scene or the room. Guests who book for the pool deck and use the room to sleep and change tend to leave happy. Guests who want space or quiet often don't: rooms run about 180 square feet by guest accounts, and the pool-deck DJ sets have drawn enough noise complaints to bring city citations. Budget $90 plus tax a night in resort fee and valet on top of the rate.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes. Cats and dogs are welcome, up to two per room, 75 pounds each. The fee is $150 per room, per stay. Service animals are exempt from the fee.
