Casa Faena carries a famous name on a much smaller, older building. It sits across the Faena District from the beachfront resort, and the pool and beach club belong to that hotel rather than this one, so the grand pool deck people picture when they hear "Faena" is a walk away instead of downstairs. What you get here is what reviewers keep repeating: unusually warm front desk, restaurant and bar staff, and Mediterranean-meets-Art-Deco interiors (Spanish tile, art on display, a photogenic little lobby) that a chain cannot fake. The catch comes out of that same old building. Thin walls and dated windows let sound in from neighboring rooms and the rooftop bar, and guests keep flagging upkeep: a slow elevator with no air conditioning, a faulty light switch, an occasional no-hot-water morning, housekeeping that left the previous guest's trash behind. Checkout at the front desk draws slow-service complaints too. On fees, the resort charge is $28 a night plus 14% tax, so $31.92 a night, or about $96 across three nights. That covers a portable beach lounge chair, umbrella and towel plus WiFi and local calls, which earns its keep if you actually use the beach. Parking has no published rate, so ask before you drive down. A dog runs $125 once per stay. Book it if you are a couple or a solo design traveler who wants character and a short walk to dinner and the theater. Light sleepers should look elsewhere.
