Faena sells spectacle, and on that promise it delivers. The surrealist Art Deco theming (gold leaf, a mammoth skeleton under glass) pulls atmosphere scores around 9 out of 10 on aggregator breakdowns, and the restaurants track just as high: Los Fuegos from Francis Mallmann and Pao from Paul Qui. Guests single out individual staff by name for warmth, sometimes inside reviews that are otherwise brutal. That gap is the catch. The design and dining halo doesn't reach the rest of the stay. Service is the loudest recurring complaint: bellhops and front desk staff pressuring for tips, slow poolside and beach service, a service sub-score that lags far behind everything else on the same page. Maintenance shows up right behind it, with mildew in showers, scratched floors, TVs and lighting that don't work, musty elevators. Entry-level rooms start around 400 square feet, and several guests call them small and low-ceilinged for the money. The nightclub is cordoned off but still audible at night. Then the math the room rate hides. The resort fee is $65 a night plus 14% tax, so $74.10. Parking is valet only at $68 ++ per night, with no self-parking on site. That's roughly $142 a night before you've eaten, and the on-site dining is expensive by design. It suits couples and friend groups on a splurge who want the scene and the food and can shrug off a slow beach chair. If you need space, quiet, or service that never wobbles, look elsewhere.
