Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
The Dolphin is the value play of the walk-to-Epcot trio, and the trade-offs are all knowable in advance. What you're buying is location and perks: a 15-minute walk to Epcot's back gate, boats to Epcot and Hollywood Studios every 20 to 25 minutes, 30-minute early entry at all four parks, Extended Evening Hours on select nights (a perk otherwise reserved for Disney's own deluxe resorts), the 7-day Lightning Lane window, and free parking at the parks. What you're accepting: this is a 1,500-room Michael Graves convention landmark, so the lobby runs loud and the front desk queues at peak, and the fee stack is serious, a $50-plus-tax resort fee and $36-plus-tax parking that add close to $100 a night before room tax. The big current variable is the rooms: a floor-by-floor renovation started in May 2026 and runs to late 2027, so booking now is a lottery between crisp new rooms and dated ones with cramped split bathrooms; ask for a renovated floor when you book. One logistics note: the Magic Kingdom bus drops at the Transportation and Ticket Center, adding 15 to 30 minutes each way. It suits park-first travelers and Bonvoy loyalists who want deluxe-adjacent access without deluxe pricing. Rates dip hardest in summer, when the conventions go home.

Does the Dolphin get real Disney perks?
Functionally deluxe-tier ones: 30-minute early entry at all four parks daily, Extended Evening Hours on select nights, the 7-day Lightning Lane booking window, and free theme-park parking. Among non-Disney hotels, only this campus and the military-only Shades of Green get the evening hours.
How do I avoid an unrenovated Dolphin room?
Ask. All 1,500 rooms are being refreshed floor by floor from May 2026 into 2027, matching the Swan's completed redo. Request a renovated floor at booking and again at check-in; the older rooms have dated split bathrooms and many run doubles rather than queens.
What does the Dolphin really cost beyond the room rate?
Budget roughly $100 a night extra: the $50-plus-tax resort fee and $36-plus-tax self-parking. The offset is free parking at the parks and skipping a rental car if you lean on the boats, buses, and your feet.
