The Grand Floridian is a resort you build a whole trip around. It's Disney's Victorian flagship on the Magic Kingdom monorail loop, and the monorail glides into a second-floor station inside the building, above a five-story red-gabled lobby capped by a stained-glass dome, with live piano and band music through the day. The Beach Pool anchors things with a 181-foot water slide next to a white-sand beach on Seven Seas Lagoon, and there's a zero-entry Courtyard Pool plus an Alice in Wonderland splash zone with spinning teacups for little kids. At night, Magic Kingdom fireworks and the floating Electrical Water Pageant play out straight off your own beach. Dining is the other draw: Victoria & Albert's is Michelin-starred, backed by Citricos, Narcoossee's, afternoon tea, and the Senses Spa. Now the catch. This is Disney's priciest Deluxe tier, and for the money the pools are elegant but modest, with no on-site water park, so plenty of guests walk away feeling it's overrated. You'll get around by monorail and boat, valet parking carries a fee, and the hardest reservations, Victoria & Albert's especially, go fast. It suits families splurging on a Magic Kingdom trip who want walk-or-monorail park access, and couples chasing the Michelin room, the spa, and afternoon tea.

Is the Grand Floridian worth the price?
It depends on what you're buying. Disney's top Deluxe rate here buys the monorail-loop location, the Victorian grandeur, and the Michelin dining. The pools come along for the ride, and they're elegant but modest, with no on-site water park. If walking or riding the monorail to Magic Kingdom and the fine dining matter most, it lands. If you mainly want a big water-park pool day, you may find it overrated.
How do you get to Magic Kingdom from the Grand Floridian?
Two ways without a car, plus a walk. The resort sits on the Magic Kingdom monorail line, with the train pulling into a second-floor station inside the building, and a boat runs across Seven Seas Lagoon straight to the park. You can also walk to Magic Kingdom along the lagoon.
Can you watch the fireworks from the Grand Floridian?
Yes. The resort's white-sand beach on Seven Seas Lagoon has nightly Magic Kingdom fireworks views, and the floating Electrical Water Pageant drifts past the shoreline after dark. You don't need to be in the park to catch the show.
Is there a resort fee at Disney's Grand Floridian?
No. Disney-owned resorts do not charge one, so that line never appears on the folio. Overnight self-parking is complimentary for Disney Resort hotel guests; only valet carries a fee, at $42 a night plus tax.
Are the pools at the Grand Floridian good for kids?
Good for young kids, though modest in scale.
