The Wyndham Grand is the newest built of Clearwater's big three (2017), and it shows in the right places: a genuinely nice spa, Ocean Hai up top serving the best hotel dinner on the beach, an elevated pool deck staring straight down the Gulf, and AAA Four Diamond service on its good days. It came through the 2024 hurricanes essentially unbothered; modern concrete does that, while older neighbors spent months on repairs. Two things to know before you book. First, the fee math: a $35-plus-tax resort fee (at least it includes your beach chairs), $40-plus-tax valet with no self-park option, and an automatic 19% gratuity on many services. Guests consistently say the extras stay invisible until checkout. Second, this is an event hotel to its bones: 22,000 square feet of meeting space means weddings and conferences can own the lobby, the elevators, and the valet queue on any given weekend, and the pool-deck playlist carries into rooms a surprising number of floors up. One more nuance: the sand here is across the Beach Walk promenade, about a one-minute walk. It suits travelers who want the most polished modern full-service stay on the beach and will pay the stack for it. Skip it if you're traveling with a pet (none allowed), sleep lightly, or break out in hives around convention crowds.
