Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
Here's the trade you're weighing at the Hilton: the best large-resort location on Clearwater Beach, ten acres of private sand two minutes on foot from Pier 60, the marina, and everything else, attached to rooms whose last full renovation was 2017 and whose reviews have been saying so louder every year. The 3.8 is a location-versus-product split you can read right in the numbers, with booking sites scoring its location above 9 and its value below 7. Worn carpets, dated bathrooms, and "partial Gulf view" rooms that need binoculars to find the Gulf are the recurring complaints; the ten-acre beach, the two heated pools, the tiki bar, and the Hibiscus Spa are the recurring redemptions. It's also a 400-room convention hotel, with the check-in lines and elevator waits that implies. The fee print stings extra here: a $35-plus-tax resort charge, valet-only parking around $40, and beach chairs that still cost extra on the hotel's own beach. It took the 2024 storms on the chin and repaired while operating, so expect the occasional touched-up corridor. It suits Hilton loyalists burning points, groups, and location-first travelers who'll spend daylight on the sand and never think about the carpet. You're paying for the address; price it that way and it can still be a fair deal.

Why does the Hilton Clearwater Beach rate lower than its neighbors?
Rooms. The last full renovation was 2017, and reviews split sharply, with location scoring above 9 and value below 7. Guests who come for the ten-acre beach and Pier 60 access leave happy; guests expecting a room that matches the rate leave grumbling.
Does the Hilton earn and take Hilton Honors points?
Yes, it's a full Hilton flag, and it's often the most practical points redemption on Clearwater Beach. On peak weekends, points can beat the cash rate comfortably.
Are beach chairs included at the Hilton?
No. Even with the $35-plus-tax resort charge, chair and umbrella setups on its own beach cost extra. Factor that in when comparing against the Wyndham Grand, whose fee includes them.
