Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
The building at 999 9th St NW, a 9-minute walk from Capital One Arena, was the Renaissance until late 2023, when its owner, Sunstone Hotel Investors, converted it to a Westin after a renovation. Its $40 Destination Fee is the largest hotel fee read off a booking screen in this area, and it is part of the nightly price Marriott quoted for 17 November. Pets are not allowed. You can check in from 4 PM, and checkout is at 11 AM. With a car, fee and parking come to $120 a night, $80 of it on top of Marriott's price, or $360 over three nights. Self-parking is $11 an hour or $80 a day and valet is $80 a day too, so a full day costs the same whoever parks the car, and past seven hours the hourly rate saves nothing. No other hotel in this area has a self-parking rate we could confirm.
