Our take

By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer

Metro Center station opens into the Grand Hyatt's lobby, at the 11th Street exit, and serves the blue, orange, silver and red lines. The hotel has 902 rooms, 31 of them suites, and CABINET serves breakfast every day. Standard Wi-Fi in the rooms is free, and the fitness center is open 24 hours to registered guests at no charge. It sits across from CityCenterDC, 9 minutes on foot from Capital One Arena. The room carries the District's 15.95% tax, and Hyatt's screen for 17 November adds a $30 nightly destination fee per room without saying whether that is taxed too. The screen names nothing the fee covers and tells you to contact the hotel for more information. Guests checking in must be 21 or older. Hyatt's fact sheet lists valet and self-parking for a fee and nothing more, and we could not confirm either rate, so we cannot finish the sum for anyone driving in.
