Written reviews of the Hilton Houston Post Oak are thin, and the few we found weren't enough to name a pattern, so there is less to go on than at the towers closer to the mall. That mall walk is 12 minutes, long enough to feel when you are carrying shopping bags. Seventeen rooms came up on Hilton's booking screen, and not one carried a mandatory charge. Hilton's hotel-info page puts self-parking at $35 a day and valet at $50, so a night with the car is the room rate plus $35, before any tax. That self-parking rate is $15 a day more than Hotel Vesper charges. The DoubleTree and the Chifley, also Hilton hotels, are 8 and 9 minutes from the mall and charge $32 to self-park, though the DoubleTree adds its 0.70 percent mandatory charge. Pets are allowed for a non-refundable $75. Check-in is 3 PM, and you can stay until noon.
