Almost every room at The Current faces the bay, and that view is what guests bring up most: floor-to-ceiling windows over the water, an infinity pool, a small patch of sand and a rooftop. The food keeps people on the property too, with Julian off the lobby and Casa Cami, the Mexican place on the roof, both drawing steady praise. Rooms carry local art, and the big walk-in showers get mentioned often. The hotel sits alone at the tip of Rocky Point, which keeps it quiet and leaves little on foot: past its own outlets there is one pricey restaurant next door, so dinner anywhere else means a car or a rideshare. It works best for a couple who plan to eat and drink on site, or a business traveler flying out of Tampa International. Most complaints concern the bill. The hotel lists no resort or destination fee, but double charges and prepaid stays billed again at checkout turn up in reviews from 2020 through 2026, and some guests spent weeks and several calls getting a deposit back, so check each charge on your bill at checkout. Rooms are sometimes not ready at the 4pm check-in, and housekeeping can need a request before it happens. Self-parking runs $27 a day against $35 for valet, though recent guests say the self-park area fills, and at least one was told valet was the only choice.

The hotel is at the end of Rocky Point, off the Courtney Campbell Causeway on the western edge of Westshore. Tampa International Airport is about 7 minutes by car, and Raymond James Stadium and International Plaza are about 10. Beyond the hotel's own outlets and one restaurant next door, there is not much within walking distance.
